Admin (Elevated) Guide

For general administrator tasks—user management, school settings, reports, announcements—see the Administrator Guide. This guide covers only what’s specific to the Admin (Elevated) role.


What’s specific to Admin (Elevated)

  • Billing and subscriptions — Only Admin (Elevated) users can access and manage the school’s subscription, payment methods, and invoices. Everyone else will not see or use School Settings → Billing for that school.
  • Assigning the Elevated role — Only existing Admin (Elevated) users can assign or remove the Admin (Elevated) role for others in the school. All other role management (teacher, student, admin, guardian) works the same as for administrators; see the Administrator Guide for User Management.

Billing (Elevated only)

Where to go: From the school dashboard, open School SettingsBilling tab (or /{schoolSlug}/dashboard/school-settings#billing).

Subscription status

  • Trial (no subscription): School can create content but cannot add new members; only the school creator is allowed.
  • Active: Full access; create content and add members (within plan limits).
  • Cancelled: Stays active until the current billing period ends, then becomes expired.
  • Expired: Creating content and adding members are blocked; the UI shows a message and a link to renew in Billing.

Common actions

  • Subscribe: School Settings → Billing → Subscribe → complete checkout (Stripe). In test mode, a “Test mode” banner appears and no real charges are made.
  • Cancel / Reactivate: Same page; reactivate is available if the subscription was cancelled but the period hasn’t ended.
  • Payment methods & invoices: Available in the Billing section; add or set default payment method via the provided links.

When subscription expires

Blocked actions include: creating courses and assignments, enrolling in courses, submitting assignments, creating invitations, joining via code, approving role or guardian requests. The UI shows a subscription-blocked message and a link to Billing.

Troubleshooting

  • Subscription or Billing not visible: Confirm you have the Admin (Elevated) role for that school.
  • Payment issues: Check payment method and invoices; contact Stripe or platform support as needed.
  • Test mode: “Test mode” means Stripe is in test mode; use test card numbers and no real charges.
